Florida is, in fact, also known as the “sunshine state” because of the warm weather that it experiences throughout the year. Over the years, it has managed to build up a reputation for being one of the most tourist friendly destinations in the world. It does offer plenty of excitement and entertainment to its many visitors.

Home to NASCAR Racing, Florida also becomes home to a large number of racing enthusiasts during the racing season. For those who are looking to get away from the rough and tumble of our daily lives, there are small towns in and around Florida that can be a vacationer’s paradise. One can also book rooms in any of the hotels that face the beach. One could also rent some of the beach-facing cottages that are available.

Having done that, one can happily say “hello” to lazy days ahead. If one is looking to spot some celebrities, southern Florida is the area to frequent. Southern Florida, where Miami is situated, is quite a hotspot for celebrities. It has its own private beaches and posh houses that one can take a look at while driving along the highway.

Disney World which brings in visitors from all parts of the world also happens to be in Florida. One can see families, newly-wed couples and friends venturing in to this wonderful world of Walt Disney to get a glimpse of what luxury and fun are all about. There are amusement park rides, shopping malls, restaurants, spas, and so much more that the visitors have to choose from while on holiday.

If you are looking for more relaxation, a couple of hundred miles away is the quaint town of Tampa valley, where there are more secluded beaches which are filled with exotic shells.

As for people who are looking to get married, Florida offers some amazing locations where one can carry out weddings in. The Honeymoon Island is one such location where outdoor weddings happen almost all through the year. Thanks to the warm climate and great weather, this town is ideal throughout the year.

NEVER walk in front of the television if a race is on. If your dog is trying to crawl up the fireplace, let it go. If your arm is falling off, just duct tape it back on for now. Just don’t walk in front of the television. Seriously, this piece of advice could possibly save your life.

Throw the word “drafting” into anything you need so say to your RF while the race is on. Since drafting is a popular racing term, you stand a small chance of actually being heard.

Invest in a drink holder that has a long arm. Why? It makes your RF feel like he’s being handed a drink while sitting in a race car, and more importantly, it keeps you out of harm’s way.

NEVER plan anything on a Sunday during race season – unless you want to go alone. If you do want to go somewhere alone (or with friends), Sunday is the perfect day.

Refer to all bathroom breaks as “pit stops”. You may actually need to remind your RF to take some pit stops during the race, too.

If you’re going somewhere during the race and you need to make your RF aware that you’re leaving, use the phrase “4-tire change” somewhere in your sentence. You’ll at least get a baffled stare.

If your RF has some rowdy friends over for the race, you might think about implementing a flag system. In racing, a green flag means the race is on and there are no problems. A yellow flag is a caution, which means all drivers must slow down and use – what else – caution. A red flag means the race has been stopped due to debris or an accident. A black flag means that a specific car must leave the race. These same flag colors can be used as a behavioral barometer for a rowdy NASCAR crowd, and it involves symbols they already understand. If they don’t behave, you can always slap ‘em with a fine.

Make sure the food served during a race is only from NASCAR sponsors. You don’t have to serve the food, but unless you want to hear a lot of bellyaching, makes sure the “approved” food is available.

Invest in some good earphones. You can listen to music or books on tape and not have to get sucked into a discussion of who really should have won the 1976 Daytona 500.

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. And remember: it’s perfectly acceptable to choose a favorite driver based on how cute he is or how cool his car looks.

 1)     To see a NASCAR race; or

  2)     To experience all that NASCAR has to offer which is much more than a “race”.

If you just want to “see a race” then you have a few options.  You can book a hotel and race tickets on-line and drive to track; or you can book a NASCAR tour package that includes a hotel room, race tickets and transfers to and from the race track at scheduled times (once per race).  There are also bus tours that you can book as well.  When you decide to stay in a hotel, no matter what approach you are taking, you have selected the objective of your NASCAR vacation, and that is to see a NASCAR race! 

This is nothing wrong with this approach and you will have a great time at the race.  I’ve done it myself, but staying in a hotel located 45 to 90 minutes from the track is all about seeing a race.  When you stay in a hotel, you do the same things you do in every other vacation: complain about the pool temperature being too cold; go out for dinner and drinks and sit in your hotel room watching TV.  Add in a race or two, and that is your NASCAR experience. 

You also have to deal with fatigue as transportation to and from the race track is very draining, especially after the race when it takes 2 or 3 times longer to get back your hotel.  One tour operator was putting their race fans in an Atlanta hotel for the race in Talladega. That’s a lot of miles to cover, especially if you are taking in both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide races. Ask yourself how much time you want to spend on a bus or in a car and at the hotel?  This is another option – RV camping.

If you truly want to experience NASCAR racing at its finest consider an RV camping package.  Many race fans choose camping rather than staying in a “nearby” hotel because of the atmosphere created in the campground mingling and partying with 1,000’s of fellow NASCAR fans. The new Chevy Racing campaign unveils “Team Chevy,” which is an exclusive club consisting of some of NASCAR’s brightest stars and their participation using the Chevy Monte Carlo SS racing machine.  While retaining it’s “American Revolution” tag line, Chevy also plans to incorporate a touch of humor with it’s new campaign.
